Create your own stunning piece of wearable mosaic art!

Date: Friday 7 February, 2025
Time: 10:00-5:00pm
Fee: $220 plus materials fee $30 payable on the day

Have you ever felt you were without that perfect piece of original jewelry? World renowned mosaic artist and teacher Margo Anton walks you through the steps to create your own unique mosaic art jewelry.

The ability to make quality mosaic jewelry is a useful addition to your mosaic repertoire that hones your cutting abilities, leads to beautiful, wearable art, and can result in gifts and sales. Learn how to create high end, precisely laid mosaic jewelry in this hands-on full day workshop.

The day begins with a comprehensive lecture and slide show on jewelry bases, adhesives, and suitable materials, followed by an examination of design for jewelry and how it differs from standard mosaic design. Precision cutting, the essential key to fine mosaic jewelry, will be discussed, demonstrated, and practised. Jewelry laying techniques will be thoroughly covered, and students can expect lots of great tips!

Class participants will receive lots of individual attention as they work in silver plate pendant bases using mosaic gold, smalti, filati, and other high end mosaic materials. Students will leave with a finished pendant or with adequate materials to complete the project later. Participants should expect to depart with the knowledge and skills to create precision mosaic jewelry on their own. This workshop should particularly benefit participants of all levels who are wanting to learn to cut material more precisely, want to add high end mosaic jewelry to their skill set, or are interested in learning to work in small scale mosaic.

Students in this class will be provided with all materials and tools to create their mosaic pendant except wheeled glass nippers and protective eyewear.

What's Included: Students in this class will be provided with all materials and tools to create their mosaic pieces. However bringing your own wheeled glass nippers (Leponitt brand preferred, Montolit brand not suitable) to the workshop would be beneficial, as well as any magnifying eyewear or small tools you may wish to use. Your materials fee includes a special pair of tweezers to keep.
